First Fall

EE605 Information Engineering Seminar (2 Hrs)

For newly entering clients, the annual seminar serves as an introduction to the IEM Program.  Guest speakers will present topics relevant to IEM.  Clients will participate in team building activities and will work on a competitive team exercise.  Program-related administrative tasks will also be completed at this time.

EE606 Technical Project Management (3 Hrs)

This course teaches the fundamental concepts of technical project management using the PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) as a framework.  Best practices will be reviewed along with practical insights based on real-world project management experience. Trends and directions in project management will also be discussed.

EE607 Information Engineering Technologies (3 Hrs)

This course introduces a systems engineering approach to the design and deployment of large-scale information systems.  Topics include hardware and network architectures, infrastructure planning, risk management, quality assurance, and systems management practices.

First Spring

EE608 Strategic Management (3 Hrs)

This course focuses on essential concepts from operations management, financial analysis, product marketing, and business strategy.  Topics include the analysis and interpretation of financial statements, time value of money, and capital budgeting.  Business simulation is used to develop decision-making skills and strategic thinking.

EE609 Information Engineering Software (3 Hrs)

This course focuses on the fundamental principles of software engineering including a study of current trends and the applicability of software design principles in development organizations.  Emerging software technologies, trends, and future directions are explored.

Summer

EE611 Special Topics in Information Engineering (3 Hrs)

This course focuses on recognizing, developing, and putting into practice effective communication skills.  Lectures provide insights into presentation structure, style, and content.  Self-evaluation exercises combined with personal coaching will help clients improve their professional speaking and presentation skills.

EE612 Technical Entrepreneurship (3 Hrs)

This course is an introduction to entrepreneurship that begins with the development of personal insights and work habits that are fundamental to success within any organization.

Second Fall

EE605 Information Engineering Seminar (1 Hr)

For clients entering their second year, the annual seminar serves as a laboratory for practicing leadership, communication, and project management skills as they plan and execute the seminar as a class project.

EE613 Information Engineering Security (3 Hrs)

This course provides an introduction to information security engineering and its applicability to the protection of information assets.  Class discussions will develop an understanding of the essential body of knowledge and the use of best practices to effectively manage security.

EE614 Technology Ventures (3 Hrs)

This course builds upon the topic of entrepreneurship with a focus on the process of developing and managing a successful venture.  The objective is for clients to emerge with the knowledge and confidence needed to successfully manage, or start, a technology venture.

Final Spring

EE615 Information Engineering Design (3 Hrs)

This course provides a broad understanding of business process modeling with a focus on how to recognize inefficient business processes and revamp them utilizing the latest technologies and management techniques.

EE616 Information Engineering Project (3 Hrs)

The IEM graduate project allows program participants to pursue an area of study that is (a) related to information engineering and management and (b) consistent with their professional development goals.
